  • Defining Meditation
    • It is a solitary work.
    • It is thinking seriously on God.
  • Why We Must Provoke Ourselves to Meditate
    • It is against flesh and blood.
    • Satan hinders it.
  • Matters for Meditation
    • Meditate upon the corruption of your nature.
    • Meditate upon the death and passion of Christ.
      • It would produce repentance.
      • It would fire our hearts with love to Christ.
    • Meditate upon your evidences for heaven.
      • Was your heart convinced of sin?
      • Has God made you accept Christ on His own terms?
      • Do you have the indwelling Holy Spirit?
    • Meditate upon the uncertainty of all earthly comforts.
      • It would keep us from be deceived by the world.
      • It would moderate our affections to them.
      • It would make us look to the certainty of grace.
    • Meditate on God’s severity against sin.
    • Meditate on eternal life.
      • It is a spiritual life.
      • It is a glorious life.
  • Reasons for Meditation
    • It makes the Word preached to profit.
    • It quickens the affections.
    • It has a transforming power in it.
    • It produces reformation.
  • How Shall We Meditate?
    • Get a love for spiritual things.
